Your heart is offered
Rawest beauty towards my grief
Sacred proof of love.
She's taken from me
My anguish fills emptiness
Where is normalcy?
I wake with a start
My hand reaches for her place
Soft pillow--not she.
Awake to the sun
Trying to send joy, birds sing
All the notes sound flat.
I was in a pair
Passing our unconscious time
More notice required.
Memory is all
I do now hold in my mind
Dear mind stay with me.
The cats need feeding
Are they as close in feeling
When I walk by them?
Entropy occurs
How ever did chores get done?
The burden unfolds.
Seeking diversion
Could it ever be the same?
Much is now mundane.
A deep breath required
The head becomes clearer for
A moment. Then gray,
Cry out for the souls
Of all those who care for life
May they work in peace.
Caretakers are gold
Helping those left by others
They know the reward.
A reverent nun
Selfishly earning her joy
She is thus fulfilled.
Altruism is
A hero's work to save life
And filling ego.
The care of others
Nursing is unforgiving
Some stay to the end.
Operating room
Sterile chamber with some blood
Lives are surely saved.
Many instruments
Utilized in procedures
Tally all--then sew!
The recovery
Diet, exercise, good care
Life renewed again.
For continued health
Do not give up good practice
Easy as one goes.
Achieving long life--
Caretakers and medicine
Return to one's ken.
