Haiku XIII opus 786

14 March 2026 1105 Hours Poetry

Leukemia struck
Infusion chair for hours
But I made it through.

Try to prolong life
Question is how do we live?
Do not waste more time.

I am growing old
How does one prolong a life?
Live oh so fully.

California's
State grass, the newest symbol
Took four years to pass.

Pallid Bat just found
Pollinates efficiently
Head into flower.

Rhinos cruelly poached
Radio chip into horn
Source can now be traced.

I came through the Picts
The tattooed painted Britons
Waged war with small shields.

Childhood dream to fly
Much later took my lessons
Mastered the airfoil.

Loving Mom and Dad
Allowed me to find my way
Look where I am now!

I learned to carve stones
Many petroglyphs galore
Now loved by others.

Wanted a fish farm
Learned to construct many ponds
Shared all the protein.

Planted bulbs to sell
Much delight from the bouquets
Joy passed to others.

Nora was my mate
Helped me in body and soul
No better could be.

Always fished with nets
Seines were dragged / cast nets were thrown
A delayed result.

Learned my Cal flora
Passed the official State grass
Good legislation.

Scottish Highland steer
Mirrored my Scottish background
Proud to wear the kilt.

I have lived through three
Major wars. But followed peace
Let all others live.

Grandsons shared my farm
Each grew up knowing my cows
Gentle giant beasts.

Teaching gives me joy
Eyes open with new knowledge
Trying to keep up!

I learned to carve stones
First lesson just ten minutes
Scant time, much to learn.
